Mackenzie and Dalton met in September 2015 at McCabes Irish Pub in London, ON. They didn’t lock eyes over drinks, or bump into each other dancing - they met at the front door, working, where Dalton was a bouncer and Mackenzie was a hostess. This fateful meet-cute would be the start of a friendship built on witty banter, occasional drinks, and Dalton giving Mackenzie line-by-pass into Cowboys Ranch (once). In Spring 2017, Dalton moved to Toronto to pursue his career while Mackenzie finished her Masters in London, until she moved to the city that Fall.
A year later, in Spring 2018, they by-chance bumped* into each other (*Dalton heard Mackenzie yelling at a cab) during a concert at Echo Beach. This second-chance meet would be the start of them talking, going for drinks at Bar Wellington, seeing concerts at Budweiser Stage, and sailing in the Toronto Harbour. Mackenzie introduced Dalton to the Toronto art scene, and Dalton attempted to show her how to drive stick in the country.
They said “I love you” in January 2019 and took their first trip together later that year to San Francisco. They moved in together in March 2020 as the pandemic was starting, and throughout lockdown Mackenzie learned that Dalton paced while talking on the phone, and Dalton learned that Mackenzie made killer Kraft Dinner.
They welcomed Violet, their four-legged doghter in Spring 2021, bought their condo in July 2023, and Dalton asked the question to which Mackenzie said “yes! a thousand times yes”, on June 28, 2024 at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Over the course of their 8 year relationship they have travelled to 4 Canadian provinces, 8 U.S. cities, and 4 countries. They have seen over 50 concerts including 4 festivals and by the time they get married, they will have attended 15 weddings together.
After a decade of knowing each other they will enter their next chapter on September 13, 2025 surrounded by their favourite people, in a concert hall, where they spent a Valentines Day seeing one of Dalton’s favourite bands.
